A Sanctuary of Books & Melodies

During the site observation, Woodlands Hospital was found to provide dedicated restorative spaces that support the mental and emotional well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. One example is the reading corner located at Basement 2, which offers a quiet sanctuary within the healthcare environment. The space encourages relaxation, reflection, and temporary respite from the clinical setting.

The reading corner also reflects Woodlands Hospital's commitment to sustainability and community partnership. The use of recyclable cardboard furniture and the provision of a donated piano create a unique environment that supports both environmental stewardship and social interaction. From a TBPD perspective, the space enhances occupant comfort and user experience by providing a welcoming and non-clinical environment that promotes psychological well-being.
